Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer III in West Valley City, UT. You will help ensure products are designed for efficient production from development through full-rate manufacturing and mentor junior engineers.

The role emphasizes process capability, producibility improvements, and quality maintenance across the lifecycle, with responsibilities spanning design for manufacturability, fixture/tool development, and production planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication/assembly shop experience.
• Ability to read and generate blueprints, drawings, and diagrams.
• Familiarity with material properties, in-process verification, and validation.
• Proficiency in GD&T.
• DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Supports design teams by driving design for manufacturability.
• Mentors junior manufacturing engineers.
• Establishes and validates production processes and controls.
• Designs fixtures, tools, and inspection gauges for fabrication and assembly.
• Coordinates material and resource planning to support schedules.
• Leads manufacturing workflow planning and line setup.
• Solves complex technical problems using data and inspection tools.
• Collaborates with engineers to ensure manufacturing requirements are met.
