Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Connecticut seeks a Manufacturing Engineer III to support mechanical and automated production lines in a GMP environment. You will troubleshoot, optimize equipment performance, and lead process improvements on the shop floor with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), documentation, and successful new product introductions. Occasional travel and close collaboration with Quality and Maintenance are expected.

Qualifications

• Advanced engineering degree with 3+ years in manufacturing engineering.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with automation controls such as PLCs, robotics, or vision systems.
• Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ or similar qualification methodologies.
• Strong project-management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience documenting manufacturing processes and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on engineering support for mechanical, automated, and PLC-controlled equipment in a GMP production environment.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with controls engineers to optimize automation systems, robotics, manufacturing controls, sensors, and vision systems.
• Lead manufacturing engineering projects from problem identification through implementation, qualification, and sustained performance.
• Lead or support equipment qualification and process validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), including documentation and issue resolution.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, and production readiness.
• Partner with Quality to execute change controls and GMP documentation.
