Job summary

HME is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer III in California. You will provide technical floor support to ensure optimum production, develop tooling, and train technicians. You will participate in new product design reviews to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience, strong communication, and proficiency with ERP systems, AutoCAD, and schematic capture. Travel is minimal and a competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • BA or BS degree preferred.
  • Experience with SMT equipment and contract manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Production support: monitor prototype/pilot production activities, evaluate designs, specify processes, train staff, estimate time and cost, design fixtures and tooling, document and recommend improvements.
  • New product representation and sustaining engineering: present to design teams, ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness, process EARs/ECOs, review docs, MRB determinations.
  • General support: perform miscellaneous duties assigned by supervisor within scope of Manufacturing Engineer III.

We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer III.

The Manufacturing Engineer III, under minimal supervision, provides technical support to the manufacturing floor to ensure optimum production of products and performs production support activities. Develops production tools to improve the manufacturing floor efficiencies. May train production technicians or other Manufacturing Engineers and technicians. Provides costing, status, and other reports as necessary to supervisor.

What You Will Do In The Position
  • Production Support
    • Monitors prototype/pilot production activities.
    • Evaluates new product designs (documentation and equipment needs).
    • Specifies manufacturing processes.
    • Advocates lean approaches and conduct training.
    • Conducts time and cost estimates.
    • Designs fixtures and production tooling.
    • Documents fixtures and tooling as required.
    • Recommends fixture and tooling which can help production.
  • New Product Representation and Sustaining Engineering
    • Represents the department in new product design team meetings.
    • Suggests design ideas to ensure new products are manufacturable, reliable, and cost effective.
    • Processes EARs and ECOs.
    • Reviews documentation.
    • Represents the department for Material Review Board Supplier (MRBS) determinations.
    • Resolves sustaining engineering issues as needed.
  • General Support
    • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor, which includes projects within the scope of a Manufacturing Engineer III.
What You Will Need To Succeed
  • Qualifications
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient with MS Office, Windows and Internet.
    • Strong knowledge of ERP systems.
    • Advanced drafting knowledge.
    • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes.
    • Advanced mechanical skills.
    • Ability to think and work independently.
    • Experience with SMT equipment.
    • Experience in Contract Manufacturing.
    • Experience with AutoCAD.
    • Knowledge of schematic capture software preferred.

The posted pay range, $94,800 - $126,400, is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. This may vary depending on experience and other factors. Our benefits package includes tuition reimbursement; 3 weeks paid vacation your first year, paid holidays, medical, vision, and dental coverage, pet insurance, life insurance, and 401K contributions.
