Job description

Manufacturing Engineer II – 2nd Shift (Melbourne, FL)

Responsibilities
  • Participate in cross‑functional teams to improve test yields, production throughput, and product quality.
  • Identify component test failure trends and perform root cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective actions and prepare test failure analysis reports.
  • Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment; establish programs to reduce downtime.
  • Analyze test approaches, plans, and processes for cost reduction and capacity opportunities.
  • Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for staffing and equipment needs.
  • Identify new test approaches to minimize staffing and capital requirements.
  • Select and order capital test equipment using cost/payback analysis; generate and track appropriation requests.
  • Improve existing test fixtures and equipment to enhance test performance.
  • Participate in Production Readiness Reviews to assess design suitability for production.
  • Support Gage R&R efforts on new test solutions for consistent product and equipment performance.
  • Drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple assembly steps; conduct Process Flow analysis.
  • Develop tools to enable manufacturing or increase production rates.
  • Implement procedural and process improvements focusing on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide technical support for entire product test process from board level to end‑to‑end.
  • Assist production operators with tooling and process needs to meet schedule.
  • Act as Real‑Time Problem Resolution (RTPR) point of contact to reduce equipment downtime and maximize OEE.
  • Maintain test documentation and change management procedures for all test documents.
  • Interface with design engineering to coordinate design changes for production sustenance.
  • Train test technicians on products and test systems; provide mentorship to other engineers.
  • Provide management with status updates on equipment, manpower, space, and other manufacturing elements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or 6 years of experience in related field if no degree.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a manufacturing engineer in electronics manufacturing with a focus on product testing.
  • Experience with parametric process control and statistics.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma control methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
  • Self‑starter with a passion for LEAN principles and continuous improvement.
  • Organizational and prioritization abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Dependable, high energy, and detail‑oriented work ethic.
