Job summary

Hutchinson, a French company with an international presence, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support on‑time product launches and quality shipments at our Livingston, TN site. The role focuses on developing efficient manufacturing methods, layout design, and coordination with design and planning teams to optimize production.

Requires a four-year engineering degree and at least four years in metal fabrication, with knowledge of JIT, FMEA, GD&T, and related standards.

Qualifications

• Four year engineering degree with at least 4 years of related experience in metal fabrication, machining and forming.
• Specialized training in computer skills, time management and cohesive team building.
• Working knowledge of JIT manufacturing, cellular manufacturing, FMEA, process flow diagrams, ANSI Y-14.5, GD&T, tube bending and brazing.
• High mechanical aptitude and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities.
• Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Consult with planning and design staff on product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
• Coordinate with vendors to determine specifications and procure equipment, materials, or parts.
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
• Support management and engineering staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and schedules.
• Design tooling, fixtures, product/part, and machines.
• Develop plans for productivity and efficiency improvements and perform cost estimates.
• Assist in establishing advanced quality engineering standards and procedures.
• Prevent environmental and safety nonconformities and stop nonconforming operations until corrective actions are completed.

• With minimum direction, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
• Performs analysis and work force utilization planning, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
• May confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specification s and quality standards.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
• Supports management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
• Designs tooling, fixtures, product/part, machines
• Develops and recommends plans for productivity and efficiency improvements and performs manufacturing cost estimating and feasibility studies.
• Assists in establishing advanced quality engineering standards and procedures and submit as required by customer needs.
• Has responsibility and authority to prevent all Environmental and Safety nonconformities and stop any nonconforming operations until corrective action has been completed.

Four year engineering degree level of knowledge with a minimum of 4 years related experience in metal fabrication, machining and forming preferred. Specialized training in computer skills, time management and cohesive team building. Working knowledge of J.I.T. manufacturing, cellurized manufacturing, FMEA, process flow diagram, ANSI Y-14.5, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing, tube bending and brazing. High mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
