Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Durham, NH is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to support aerospace manufacturing operations by developing, improving, and sustaining processes from planning through production.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with drawings, specs, and quality standards. This role is onsite at the Durham facility with relocation assistance.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing processes, production, and/or new product introduction.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, process documentation, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot production and quality issues, supporting root cause analysis and nonconformance investigations.
  • Support new product introduction, including First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and engineering change implementation.
  • Identify and implement cost and cycle-time reduction initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support special process qualifications, equipment validation, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide technical support for production teams, ensuring safe and effective manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will play a critical role in supporting aerospace manufacturing operations by developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes from initial planning through production execution. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Planning, to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.

In this role, you will work hands-on with a variety of manufacturing and special processes, such as aluminum brazing, vacuum brazing, heat treatment, machining, hardware installation, assembly, and product testing. You will also have the opportunity to drive continuous improvement initiatives, support new product introductions, and contribute to manufacturing readiness. What You Will Do
  • Develop and sustain manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, process documentation, and work instructions.

Qualifications You Must Have

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing industry, preferably aerospace or defense.
  • Hands-on experience with aluminum brazing, vacuum brazing, heat treatment, machining, hardware installation, assembly, and/or product testing processes.
  • Familiarity with special process qualification and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities and supporting or leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
