This is an exciting opportunity for a solutions‑oriented engineer who enjoys working directly with manufacturing operations, analyzing complex processes, and implementing sustainable improvements within a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and sustain manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and operational performance.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, equipment utilization, labor requirements, and production constraints to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to Operations and Engineering teams for manufacturing process issues, troubleshooting, and production challenges.
- Support the development and implementation of process controls, operating parameters, work instructions, visual standards, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Plan, execute, and document engineering trials, process studies, Design of Experiments (DOE), and other structured evaluations to establish or optimize manufacturing processes.
- Support process qualification, validation, requalification, and manufacturing readiness activities for new or modified processes, equipment, tooling, and materials.
- Analyze process and production data to identify variation, trends, constraints, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead or support root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing and process‑related issues.
- Conduct time studies, work measurement, labor analysis, and production observations to establish and improve manufacturing standards.
- Evaluate production capacity, equipment utilization, staffing requirements, and manufacturing constraints to support operational and business planning.
- Develop and improve manufacturing layouts, material flow, workstation design, and production sequencing to improve safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and throughput.
- Identify manufacturing bottlenecks and develop solutions to improve production flow, cycle time, work‑in‑process, and overall capacity.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, standard work, 5S, value‑stream mapping, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing metrics and analytical tools used to monitor process performance, capacity, productivity, utilization, and improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering to ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable engineering requirements, customer specifications, AS9100 quality system requirements, Nadcap special process requirements, and internal procedures.
- Support new product introduction, production transitions, work transfers, equipment moves, and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Evaluate proposed changes to manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, materials, layouts, or workflows and support implementation and validation as required.
- Support new equipment selection, justification, installation, commissioning, and production implementation.
- Facilitate cross‑functional improvement initiatives and Kaizen events focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and process capability.
- Develop business cases and technical justification for manufacturing improvements, equipment investments, automation, tooling, and capacity expansion.
- Document engineering studies, process changes, technical decisions, and improvement results to ensure organizational knowledge is appropriately retained.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as required to support manufacturing activities.
