Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to support design and optimization of production processes for truck manufacturing. The role focuses on safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and first-time quality while ensuring tool availability and process readiness on the factory floor.

The position requires a bachelor's in a related field and 2+ years in manufacturing process or production engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in process, industrial, systems engineering or related field required.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing process engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, or assembly operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PowerBI, Autodesk, or Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement new or revised production processes for efficient/economical production of trucks.
  • Designs arrangement of manufacturing equipment for optimal layout.
  • Designs the sequence of production operations and adapts machinery to factory conditions.
  • Resolve systemic quality issues with robust work design and conduct tests to control variables.
  • Provide guidance to product design engineering on specifications for equipment and techniques.
  • Ensure processes comply with regulations and perform Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
  • Maintain standard work and Production Process Assurance Forms documentation.

Inside the Role

Support manufacturing operations with an engineering focus on optimizing production processes to improve safety/ergonomics, efficiency/line balancing, and first time quality. Ensure Production has the necessary tools and process needed to be successful in building trucks. Evaluate new product designs to develop and implement related manufacturing processes.

Position offers a starting salary range of $86,000 - $110,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience.

Note: this is a Swing Shift (Second Shift) position

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Design, develop, and implement new or revised production processes for the efficient/economical production of trucks
  • Designs arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout
  • Designs the sequence of production operations, specifying applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery in response to factory conditions
  • Resolve systemic quality issues with robust work design. Conducts tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshooting/solving production problems
  • Provides guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
  • Ensures that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
  • Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis on critical processes
  • Ensure maintenance of standard work and Production Process Assurance Forms documentation
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in process, industrial, systems engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of manufacturing process engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, or assembly operations experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Autocad, Solidworks, PowerBI, Autodesk, or Siemens NX
  • An attached resume is required
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Experience with MCS (Manufacturing Control System) or Pinpoint
  • Working knowledge of eHC / eSWI / ePPAF
  • Familiarity with the IMS mainframe and the electronic TSO
Schedule Type
  • Evening shift, weekdays. Some weekends may be required.
