Job summary

SNC in Vandalia, OH, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to influence producibility and efficiency. You will apply DFM/DFA, tooling design, and process engineering to ensure products are designed for high-quality, cost-effective mass production from the start.

You will collaborate with design and quality teams, develop work instructions, and drive Lean/Six Sigma projects across production flows and layouts, with an emphasis on robust documentation and process control.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and process documentation.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and EWIS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions and process documentation.

Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative products and services? As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will take an active role in shaping the manufacturability of our products. You will apply your expertise in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), tooling design, and process engineering to develop and optimize manufacturing systems, ensuring products are designed for efficient, high-quality production from the start.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions and process documentation.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with design and quality teams to ensure product designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
  • Design and implement production tooling and fixtures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including production flow, workstation layout, and material handling.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software and process documentation.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with computer based design and harness/wire routing tools like Capital/Zuken E3
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Capable of working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of and Background in Aerospace industry and standards
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining).
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production.
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems.
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting EWIS standards in aircraft manufacturing and certifications
  • Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing processes
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline, and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems
  • Ability to understand and create Process Development and Documentation
  • Comprehensive understanding of Engineering Drawings, EBOM & MBOM, Build/Routing Sequence, Process Flow and Producibility checks
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting EWIS standards in aircraft manufacturing and certifications
  • Working experience with activities in the Defense Industry
Essential Functions
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.
