Job summary

SNC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to help design, develop, test and deploy mechanical structures and systems for aerospace and defense applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and performance across the product lifecycle.

The role supports design, development, testing, and documentation, with a focus on CAD/CAE tools and basic engineering analyses, while requiring the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Hybrid work environment offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 0-2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or related role.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD software.
  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States secret security clearance.

As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will support the design, development, testing, and deployment of mechanical structures and systems in the aerospace and defense sectors. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related role.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States secret security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Internship or project experience in aerospace or defense industry.
  • Familiarity with applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements for components utilized in aircraft and space applications.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Applying systematic and logical problem-solving techniques to develop mechanical designs.
  • Clearly convey technical information, design specifications, and project updates to team members, stakeholders, and management.
  • Ability to understand technical documents, designs and test reports.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $71,338.47 - $98,090.40. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
