You will analyze workflows, troubleshoot issues, and implement Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Support daily production operations by troubleshooting process and equipment issues.

Job DescriptionPay Range: $77,000 - $97,000 depending on relevant experience and qualificationsMITER Brands is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and product engineering teams to implement efficient and scalable manufacturing solutions. The Manufacturing Engineer II applies intermediate-level engineering knowledge to troubleshoot production issues, optimize workflows, support new product introductions, and ensure manufacturing systems meet operational and business objectives.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and safetyDevelop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principlesSupport daily production operations by troubleshooting process and equipment issuesDesign and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Lead or support capital equipment and tooling projectsParticipate in new product introduction (NPI) activities and production launchesConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actionsMonitor and improve key manufacturing metrics including scrap, downtime, throughput, and labor efficiencyCollaborate with quality teams to resolve non-conformance and customer issuesEvaluate manufacturing layouts and material flow for optimization opportunitiesAssist in validating process changes and equipment qualificationsSupport automation and manufacturing technology initiativesEnsure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirementsTrain operators and production personnel on new processes and equipmentSupport and participate in new product launches, E-Builds, and production readiness activitiesConduct time studies and labor analysis to identify productivity improvement opportunitiesLead and support Kaizen events, 5S initiatives, and other continuous improvement activities on the production floorAdhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and organized work environmentDemonstrate MITER Brands Guiding Principles in all business interactionsOther duties may be assignedQualificationsExperience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologiesKnowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and production systemsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExperience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or FMEAProficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specificationsStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsEducation & Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environmentSix Sigma Green Belt certificationExperience with ERP or MES systemsCAD software experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)Experience supporting automation or robotics projectsKnowledge of statistical process control (SPC)Experience in high-volume manufacturing environmentsPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
