Job summary

Therm-x of California invites applications for a Manufacturing Engineer I in Bensenville, IL. This role focuses on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, implementing SPC, and driving cost reduction in collaboration with production staff.

The successful candidate will create work instructions, SOPs, and provide technical presentations while supporting lean initiatives and data-driven improvements across operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Electro-Mechanical, Mechanical, or equivalent).
• Minimum 1 year of related experience or master's degree in relevant field is preferred.
• Background in manufacturing process improvement, project management and knowledge of new manufacturing technologies or equipment is a plus.
• Knowledge of quality tools such as SPC and process failure mode analysis.

Responsibilities

• Supports manufacturing process implementation and continuous improvement.
• Write clear, concise documentation of OMS (Operational Method Sheets) and procedures.
• Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
• Supports lean manufacturing process improvement projects.
• Support manufacturing in coordinating, executing, and operating process development.
• Monitor and improve equipment utilization using data collected by company systems.
• Understands 6 sigma principles and has experience utilizing statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab)
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Determine root cause of defects and nonconformance of processes.
• Analyze and propose the product/process design changes for ease of manufacturing, quality improvement and cost reduction.
• Evaluate production and NPI parts with DFM in mind by applying knowledge of product design, production, assembly, tooling, and materials, soliciting observations from operators.
• Interface with suppliers, subcontractors, and contract manufacturers as needed.
