Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to sustain and improve manufacturing processes, design work cell layouts, review equipment and fixtures to improve throughput and reduce cycle times, and troubleshoot issues affecting production and delivery targets.

The role covers initiating, planning, and sustaining daily operations, plus tasks for non-routine service contracts and repair of replacement spares across Maritime Systems, Unmanned Robots, Warfighter and Vehicle Protection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline; 0–2 years in manufacturing engineering.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes.
• Plans production line layouts for maximum efficiency including workflow, equipment location, material handling, and space requirements.
• Recommends and provides guidance to supervisors on balancing work elements with staffing.
• Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
• Applies technical knowledge to innovate, improve design and development processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures.
• Supports builds in an AS9100 environment to ensure critical features are controlled.
• Supports projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contract manufacturers.
• Confers with planning and design disciplines concerning product development and tooling/testing needs to ensure efficient production methods.
• Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts; evaluates products to specs and quality standards.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
• Confers with management, engineering, and staff regarding capabilities, schedules, and considerations to facilitate production.
• Identifies opportunities and implements changes to improve products or reduce costs using fabrication knowledge.
• Develops and validates/verifies processes used in manufacturing.
• Assists and contributes to build and troubleshooting of initial pre-production products; generates build documents.
• Authors, reviews, and updates existing manufacturing processes and documentation.
• Organizes data sets outlining systemic improvement opportunities.
• Supports issue resolution for production and assembly non-conformance including disposition, root cause investigation, and corrective action.
