Job summary

FM Industries in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Engineer I to oversee, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes, focusing on improving process capability and reducing defects. You will develop standardized work, validate tooling/fixturing, and ensure safe, efficient production using Lean and Six Sigma methods.

Responsibilities include daily shop-floor support, root-cause analysis, ergonomic validation, collaboration with operators and maintenance, and creating work instructions and process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or CI role.
• Proficiency with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (DMAIC).
• Experience developing work instructions and manufacturing standards.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or CAD software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily shop floor inspections to identify safety, quality, and process improvements.
• Provide engineering support for incidents, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Validate ergonomics and PPE use; ensure OSHA and internal safety standards.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, inspectors, and maintenance to ensure conformance.
• Audit operations against work instructions and process parameters.
• Develop and revise process documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Lead continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma and 6S.
