Job Description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is producing highly tailored, complex composite components, including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through-thickness reinforcement technologies. AEC's products meet performance and cost specifications often beyond metallic or conventional laminated composites.

Our expertise is utilized in many commercial platforms such as Boeing’s 7-series, Airbus A380, Sikorsky S-76 helicopter, and defense programs including the F-35 Lightning II, CH-53K Helicopter, and JASSM missile. AEC is committed to delivering high-quality, economical composite solutions, supported by significant infrastructure and automation investments.

The Manufacturing Engineer will implement and maintain well-defined, documented, and controlled manufacturing processes related to finishing and assembly of aircraft structures from advanced composite materials. The role involves collaboration with operations, quality, and tooling to optimize processes and solve problems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Support production in finishing (paint, edge seal, identification) and aircraft structural assembly.
  2. Maintain assembly process documentation and manage changes in Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  3. Evaluate nonconforming parts/structures and provide dispositions based on customer specifications.
  4. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  5. Troubleshoot process defects to minimize production downtime.
  6. Establish shop order instructions and repairs based on model-based definitions, datasheets, and customer specifications.
  7. Identify and implement process improvements related to safety, quality, and efficiency.
  8. Create and maintain process PFMEAs.
Shift

Day shift, Thursday - Sunday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm

Experience/Education/Skills
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related field.
  • Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing processes, with basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Effective communication skills with technicians, engineers, and management.
  • Strong computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Preferred: knowledge of finishing, drilling, bonding processes, composite materials processing, and parts manufacturing.
  • Experience with Catia V5, GD&T, Windchill PDM, SAP is a plus.
Minimum Education and Certification Requirements:

BS/BA in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (AE/CE/IE).

  • US Persons required due to Department of Defense contracting.
