Production Engineer I – Salt Lake City, Utah

Responsibilities

1. Design and develop manufacturing processes for existing heavy manufacturing lines, implement engineering changes and enhancements, and modify tooling and fixtures.
2. Perform and manage validations on critical testing equipment and processes, supporting the creation of test protocols in collaboration with quality control, engineering, and project management.
3. Prepare production-friendly and accessible work instructions, continuously optimizing processes to meet or exceed quality and time parameters.
4. Improve manufacturing instructions, production flow, assembly methods, facility layout, product quality, and safety adherence for current and new platforms.
5. Support prototype and pilot production at SLC for new projects, engineering changes, and enhancements, coordinating with production, logistics, and engineering teams.
6. Coordinate with site leadership, facilities, outside service providers, and subject-matter experts to ensure process equipment reliability and performance for subsequent assembly, testing, and inspection stages.
7. Work with engineering and design teams to ensure developmental changes are manufacturable and to resolve manufacturing issues for future platforms. Develop sustainable processes for new platform roll-outs.
8. Complete accurate and timely manufacturing documentation, including procedures, material records, validations, test reports, and work instructions.
9. Support company goals, policies, and procedures, with a long-term focus on facility expansion, team development, and core competency enhancement.
10. Lead efforts toward lean manufacturing principles, reducing and eliminating waste.
11. Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
• 1-3 years of experience in production engineering or related fields.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Team management skills.
• Proficiency in Catia/SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools.
• Project management experience is a plus.
