Job summary

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies seeks a Manufacturing Engineer I to enhance production efficiency and quality in the Fiber Optic Value Stream. You will craft production tools, streamline instructions, and lead cost-reduction initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences.

• Relevant certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create clear and concise instructions for building repeatable, efficient processes.
• Directly support Fiber Optic Department production and processes.
• Large focus on cable qualification testing and EPD to support a large growth area.
• Collaborate with Fiber NPD and Product Management teams.
• Interpret customer requirements and approve PPAP and APQP (Control Plans, FMEAs, Flow Charts, MSAs, GR&R).
• Investigate, isolate, and resolve manufacturing processing issues and improve capability.
• Evaluate the current methods used in manufacturing for continuous improvement.
• Ensure that standard policies and procedures are in place and helps to enforce them.
• Ensures Quality System processes and procedures are followed.
• Analyze errors during the design and production processes and recommend solutions.
• Collaborates with the Design Engineering team to address functionality issues and update procedures accordingly.
• Work continuously to enhance the setup and processes for new and existing builds.
• Provide training to the new build and service associates in your area when necessary.
• Monitors productivity by tracking yields and equipment cycle rates.
• Assists with the installation, debugging, and validation of process equipment.

SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer I is pivotal in enhancing production efficiency and product quality for the Fiber Optic Value Stream. This dynamic position entails crafting innovative production tools and streamlining process instructions, devising robust production solutions and implementing improvements to existing processes, conducting thorough troubleshooting to uphold stringent quality standards, regularly revising procedures to reflect the latest best practices, executing comprehensive process validations and spearheading cost-reduction projects when required. This position operates within the engineering hierarchy and may entail collaborative responsibilities aligned with the Value Stream Manager’s directives.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/sciences.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Relevant certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is advantageous.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Conversational in any other language is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Statistics: Interpret and analyze numerical data using statistical methods.
• Basic algebra: The ability to manipulate symbols and equations to find unknown values, express relationships, and model situations.
• Basic Geometry: The ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes.

JOB SKILLS

• Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred.
• Able to learn a new database system, SAP, and associated software efficiently.
• Able to design and draw in CAD software, Solid Works preferred.

• Knowledge in root cause analysis, 8D, fishbone diagrams, etc. a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
• Good team player with the ability to collaborate with various departments.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey standards and procedures.
• Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders or special projects to meet customer or internal demands.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
