Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to advance production processes for new fusion products. You will collaborate with design and development teams to translate specs into scalable, cost‑effective manufacturing plans, while leading DFM/DFA analyses and optimizing layouts, tooling, and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years in manufacturing engineering with transition to production.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product design and development teams to understand specs and manufacturing challenges.
  • Develop, implement, and qualify manufacturing processes for new products to meet quality and cost targets.
  • Design and optimize production layouts, tooling, and fixtures for efficiency.
  • Conduct DFM/DFA analyses to improve product design.
  • Create and maintain process documentation including SOPs and flow diagrams.
  • Coordinate with supply chain to source components and ensure on‑time delivery and quality.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance metrics and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Provide hands‑on training and troubleshooting support to production staff.
  • Troubleshoot production and quality issues with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
