Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and optimize processes across the production line. You will own shift accountability and collaborate with design, production, QA, and supply chain to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 7+ years in a manufacturing or production engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and quality systems.
  • CAD proficiency (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP systems.
  • Ability to balance autonomy with disciplined escalation.
  • Hands-on leadership style.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of SPC and FMEA.

Responsibilities

  • Make real-time decisions within guardrails; escalate if outside limits.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including SOPs.
  • Collaborate with design, production, QA, and supply chain to ensure manufacturability.
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma to enhance production performance.
  • Lead design and procurement of tools, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues; implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize production.
  • Support continuous improvement and share best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation to expand capabilities.
