Job summary

Axcelis Technologies invites engineering students to join a 6-month co-op in Beverly, MA, focused on production support. The role provides hands-on exposure to assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes, with mentorship and opportunities to contribute to real projects.

Co-ops gain experience in lean manufacturing, problem solving, and equipment operation, while earning a travel stipend to support commuting to the Beverly facility.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience with SolidWorks/Creo and AutoCAD.
• Familiar with calipers, hand tools, DMMs, etc.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing systems for complex mechanical and electrical operations related to assembly of subassemblies, wire harnessing, robots, pneumatic, vacuum, cooling, and high-pressure systems.
• Design and build fixturing to aid in the assembly of complex products.
• Develop or revise module and subassembly build procedures.
• Originate corrections of BOMs and documentation to ensure Form, Fit, and Function while maintaining design intent.
• Optimize the quality and productivity of a manufacturing cell by applying lean principles and documenting standard work (Kaizen, Six Sigma).
• Perform root cause analyses for quality defects and implement containment and corrective actions.
• Drive prompt resolution of a diverse spectrum of product issues.
