Job summary

AVL in Charlotte, NC seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to bridge Engineering and Operations on a fast-moving production line. You will support mechanical and basic electrical assembly, interpret design drawings, and drive improvements in efficiency and quality across the production cycle.

The role requires a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering/technology, hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, and familiarity with AutoCAD; SolidWorks is a plus, with ERP knowledge considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering/technology.
• Experience in mechanical assembly/production environment.
• Electrical knowledge and experience with CSA, UL, NEC.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
• Experience with AutoCAD software.
• SolidWorks CAD software an asset.
• ERP knowledge would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support the mechanical (and basic Electrical) assembly process by interpreting approved design models/drawings and communicating the solutions to the shop floor.
• Improve the overall efficiency of the plant assembly process, including testing and QA processes.
• Work with lead hands in production and develop engineering solutions for production and design issues.
• Assist in creating and implementing engineering change requests (ECR).
• Assist in improving product quality and consistency through refinements and improvements in the assembly process.
• Work with the Electrical and Mechanical assembly teams to ensure the build process's accuracy and support the Project Managers to ensure budget and timelines are protected.
• Support root-cause analysis and develop corrective measures with QA for issues that extend through the manufacturing process.
• Work with Engineering and Operations to develop methods, and research tools for improving the assembly process.
