Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in California is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize assembly, equipment installation, and fabrication processes. You will leverage automation, robotics, and CAD tools to drive efficiency and quality while supporting cost reduction goals.

You will work with cross-functional teams, analyze data, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using SPC and Lean Six Sigma principles in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related STEM field
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/production principles
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies and equipment installation
  • Drive adoption of new technologies (automation, robotics, CAD) for efficiency and quality
  • Create and analyze 3D model data to optimize processes and digital work instructions
  • Leverage materials knowledge to define operations procedures and build sequences
  • Evaluate performance of equipment and tools to ensure efficiency and initiate corrective actions
  • Use factory data to develop SPC approaches and integrate reporting and analytics for continuous improvement
  • Provide input to product design regarding design concepts and manufacturing feasibility

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM field, or comparable engineering experience in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/production principals
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings
Desired Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering
  • Previous expertise in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Expertise with cable harness design/manufacturing
  • Experience creating and maintaining bill of materials
  • Previous aerospace/automotive/manufacturing experience
  • Experience collaborating with a multi-functional teamSelf-starter with ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with AutoCAD, CREO or similar modeling/design software
  • Experience driving sustainable process improvement using Lean Six Sigma Principals
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $58200.00 - $108200.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
