Mitsubishi Power is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for the Savannah Machinery Works location. The Manufacturing Engineeris responsible for the technical leadership, development, optimization, and automation of welding and laser-based manufacturing processes supporting gas turbine component manufacturing and repair operations. This position operates with limited supervision, provides technical authority for assigned component families and welding processes, mentors engineering and production personnel, and leads the implementation of complex process improvements.
This role focuses on manual GTAW (TIG) welding, robotic welding, gantry-based automated welding, manual laser welding, laser ablation, and emerging automated joining technologies, with a primary objective of transforming welding operations into highly automated, repeatable, and data-driven manufacturing systems. The engineer is responsible for establishing and deploying best practices from OSC, TGO, equipment OEMs, and industry benchmarks while identifying and eliminating process risks impacting first-pass yield, hidden rework, weld quality variation, operator dependency, and production throughput. The position leads the development of future-state manufacturing processes incorporating automation, robotic integration, adaptive process controls, automated weld parameter management, laser processing technologies, and digital manufacturing systems to improve safety, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
