Job summary

Zebra Technologies Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes with Tier 1 suppliers. This role focuses on leading teams to identify root causes, drive NPI, and push continuous improvement across mass production.

The position offers a hybrid work model and exposure to Industry 4.0 initiatives. Ideal candidates have a BS or MS in Engineering and 5+ years of experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering, with GMP knowledge a plus

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering with relevant experience.
  • Experience in Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledge of GMP in regulated industries is a plus.

Hybrid Work Requirement

This hybrid position requires a minimum of three days per week in one of the following Zebra office locations: Lincolnshire, IL; Holtsville, NY; Austin, TX. Zebra reserves the right to modify your work location based on business need.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, analyze, and implement manufacturing processes in collaboration with Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Lead Tier 1 supplier teams to identify root causes and resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Drive day‑to‑day manufacturing operations and New Product Introduction.
  • Support operational groups in cost‑reduction projects for Mass Production and New Product Introduction.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost using Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0.
  • Lead, implement, and validate Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 maturity levels with Tier 1 suppliers or distribution centers.
  • Conduct LSS & Industry 4.0 audits to measure maturity level and identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Work with internal and external teams to analyze and improve processes focusing on root cause and eliminating recurrence.
  • Manage engineering change, deviations, and MFGO processes, evaluating impact, risk, and material disposition.
  • Review and approve work instructions and validate that manufacturing procedures and parameters are correctly implemented.
  • Ensure production BOM accuracy and alignment with Agile references.
  • Drive cost‑reduction project implementation with cross‑functional teams.
  • Manage assets, fixtures, tools development, fabrication, validation, and management.
  • Review and update labor and MVA models.
  • Implement recommendations to improve process capabilities for Mass Production and New Product Introduction.
  • Develop positive relationships with other engineering disciplines and functions for problem solving and innovative solution implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams from concept phase to drive DFX principles.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) with 5+ years of experience, or MS degree in Engineering with 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and experience in Medical Devices, Personal Care, Consumer Electronics, or Pharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Process/Industrial Engineering and Lean & Six Sigma (e.g., Design of Experiments & Root‑Cause Analysis).
  • New Product launch and project management experience.
  • Experience with FMEA, control plans, and error‑proofing implementation.
  • Ability to create cost models and perform feasibility analysis; working knowledge of project payback analysis and ROI.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams including Product Development, Analytical, Safety, Regulatory, Technology Assurance, and Quality Assurance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Green Belt certification is a plus.
