The engineer will support fuel injector assembly and test operations, focus on production, quality, cost, safety, and process improvement, and work cross-functionally in a factory setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing/assembly engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience creating and facilitating APQP documentation (Process Flow, Control Plan, PFMEA).
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing/assembly processes and analyze production quality issues.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $61/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer 5 will provide hands-on technical support for fuel injector assembly and test operations, with a focus on production, quality, cost, safety, and process improvement. This role will troubleshoot assembly equipment and first-test-pass failures, improve existing manufacturing and assembly processes, and develop and maintain APQP documentation. The engineer will work cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, quality, operations, and test engineering in a factory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot assembly equipment and investigate issues contributing to first-test-pass failures.
• Develop and implement process improvements for current manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Create and maintain APQP elements, including Process Flow, Control Plans, and PFMEA.
• Analyze production data, workflows, equipment utilization, and quality results to identify deviations and improvement opportunities.
• Recommend changes to manufacturing methods, material handling, equipment layouts, and production standards to improve quality and efficiency.
• Work cross-functionally with quality, manufacturing engineering, operations, and test engineering teams.
• Facilitate technical discussions and support multiple manufacturing projects and priorities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; internships may count toward experience. The generic JD section states 10+ years, but the more specific Work Director candidate requirements state a minimum of 5 years, so I would use 5+ years for recruiting unless the WD clarifies otherwise.
• Manufacturing engineering or assembly engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience creating and facilitating APQP documentation, particularly Process Flow, Control Plan, and PFMEA.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing/assembly processes and analyze production and quality issues.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to facilitate cross-functional meetings and manage priorities across multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Assembly and test experience, particularly in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting complex manufacturing or assembly processes.
• CAD experience and familiarity with engineering drawings.
• Experience with root-cause investigation, process optimization, quality improvement, and production efficiency.
• Fuel systems, precision manufacturing, or similar component assembly experience would be particularly relevant based on the work described in the requisition.
