Job summary

Cintal, Inc. in Lafayette, IN is seeking a skilled 3rd shift Machinist to operate and set up CNC equipment, including 5-axis machines, and to support programming during inspections.

The role requires precise control of speeds, feeds, coolant and tooling to meet part specifications. You will collaborate with Engineers, Quality, and Production to improve processes, document manufacturing methods, and ensure 6S and safety standards are maintained on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering - Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical.
• 3+ years of machining experience.
• Experience operating CNC machines, including 5-axis.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines.
• Provide programming support during inspection.
• Update CNC programs as needed.
• Create and update manufacturing process documentation.
• Assist with program issues or updates to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Coordinate with Engineers, Quality and Production to resolve issues.
• Maintain 6S and safety standards on the shop floor.

3rd shift (11pm-7am)

JOB DESCRIPTION/TYPICAL TASK BREAKDOWN:

• Oversee the Machine Shop and the job performances of the Machinists.
• Ensure the Machine Shop operates in full compliance with work procedures and standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for set-up and operations of special purpose equipment, conventional (lathe and/or mill) and numeric control machines.
• Provide programming support during inspection.
• Update CNC programs as needed.
• Create new or update existing manufacturing process documentation of programmed parts.
• Assist with program issues or updates needed on a promptly manner to ensure manufacturing of parts to specification, provide programming shop support.
• Provide status to Leadership with updates and documentation as needed.
• Work with Engineers, Quality and Production team members on issues that develop.
• Work with Manager and Engineering to fixture and design methods of manufacturing complex parts.
• Reads, interprets, and follows pass downs, work orders, drawings, and work instructions.
• Maintain/Enforce 6S, AS9100, and standards and practices in the Machine Shop.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and to meet deadlines is required.
• Comply with safety regulations for moving heavy objects and using machinery.
• Ensure work areas and kept clean and organized, free from FOD.
• Abide by Enterprises policies, training, and quality and safety practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• BS in Engineering - Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical
• 3+ years of experience

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Experience in machining.
• Experience with operating CNC machines with 5-Axis.
• Ability to calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as, speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in team environment.
• Possesses strong computer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
