Job Purpose
- The Manufacturing Engineer at MJC INC is responsible for designing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This role involves optimizing layouts and workflows, overseeing equipment design, installation, and upgrades, and developing tooling, flow lines, and documentation. The Manufacturing Engineer will support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives and justify equipment costs, while managing on-site contractors to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Optimize plant layouts and workflows to streamline operations.
- Oversee the design, installation, and upgrade of manufacturing equipment.
- Develop tooling, flow lines, and documentation to support production.
- Support DFM/DFA initiatives and justify equipment costs.
- Manage and coordinate contractors on-site to ensure project completion.
- Utilize CAD and layout tools to design efficient manufacturing systems.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve process effectiveness.
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to mitigate risks.
- Employ strong project management skills to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Utilize MS Office applications to document and report on manufacturing processes.
Qualifications Required Education
- B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Required Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with machinery, manufacturing processes, CAD software, and layout tools.
- Experience working in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing settings.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Lean Six Sigma training is preferred.
