Manufacturing Engineer – Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer position can be in Process, Production, or Technology, each focusing on innovative, cost‑effective manufacturing solutions.
Manufacturing Engineer – Process
- Design and develop new and improved manufacturing techniques, processes, and procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and techniques using Lean principles.
- Establish standards, implementation plans, and training for shop‑floor personnel.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Technology to create processes for new products and capture lessons learned for existing processes.
Manufacturing Engineer – Production
- Lead implementation of manufacturing processes and techniques, including Lean and Six Sigma tools.
- Own manufacturing processes and standards; enforce implementation through training, monitoring metrics, and oversight.
- Solve complex manufacturing problems and troubleshoot quality and production yield issues.
- Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in yield, cycle time, and productivity.
- Provide shop‑floor feedback on product design and manufacturability to Engineering and DFMs.
- Review and sign off on Engineering Change Orders that impact inventory, product life cycle, or obsolescence.
- Create, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and metrics on manufacturing process capability and product quality.
- Monitor and reduce process costs.
- Assist with investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.
Manufacturing Engineer – Technology
- Ensure new processes are established using Lean concepts: standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout optimization, training matrices, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S, pull processes, TPM, cell design, and quick changeover/batch‑size optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement projects on manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and benchmark best‑in‑class manufacturing techniques for Schlumberger and OEM products.
- Establish pilot testing and scale‑up plans for manufacturing technology implementation.
- Work with Manufacturing and Engineering Métiers and stakeholders during prove‑out testing of processes.
- Support the Manufacturing Engineer (DFM) on technology issues/constraints for NPD and RR projects.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Métiers and other resources to share and leverage best practices.
- Ensure manufacturing technology solutions achieve required quality levels, reliability, and consistency.
Qualifications
• BS Engineering Degree and 2 years of experience.
