Job summary

Acuity in United States (Indiana) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive process optimization, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives across production lines.

You will partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to design, improve, and sustain efficient manufacturing processes while supporting production, NPI, and operational performance. 1–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in a relevant engineering field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering or continuous improvement roles.
  • Experience with Lean, Kaizen, 5S, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), FMEA/PFMEA, Process Control, and statistics.
  • ERP experience and proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, improve, and sustain manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and optimize production flow.
  • Analyze production data, identify improvements, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support production by troubleshooting processes, equipment, and tooling with cross-functional teams.
  • Design and optimize cells, layouts, and material flow to boost throughput.
  • Participate in NPI by ensuring manufacturability and process validation.
  • Train personnel on Lean, standardized work, and best practices.
  • Research and implement new manufacturing technologies and tools.
  • Travel up to 20% to support operations, equipment implementation, and training.

Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving manufacturing excellence through process optimization, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role partners with cross-functional teams to design, improve, and sustain efficient manufacturing processes while supporting production, new product introductions, and operational performance. The ideal candidate has hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience, strong analytical skills, and a passion for improving quality, productivity, and safety within a production environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop, improve, and sustain manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and facilitate Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and optimize production flow.
  • Analyze production data, identify process improvements, and implement corrective actions to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Support production by troubleshooting manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling issues while collaborating with Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams.
  • Design and optimize manufacturing cells, production layouts, and material flow to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Participate in new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability and supporting process validation activities.
  • Train production personnel on Lean principles, standardized work, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Research and implement new manufacturing technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing process optimization, production support, Lean Cell Design, and process troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), FMEA/PFMEA, Process Control, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams supporting production, quality, and new product implementation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems (ERP experience is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as required to support manufacturing operations, equipment implementation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
