Job summary

Pivotal Health Solutions in Watertown, SD, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and optimize production processes. You will bridge product design and manufacturing, ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and quality.

Responsibilities include DFMA analysis, SOP development, process validation, and lean initiatives. Collaboration with design, quality, and maintenance teams will be essential to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying shop conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Conduct DFMA analysis to improve product manufacturability.
  • Implement process flow, work instructions, and SOPs.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing operations and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with quality, production, and maintenance teams to resolve production problems.
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Support New Product Development with manufacturability input during design and prototyping.
  • Develop process plans, tooling requirements, and production validation for new products.
  • Conduct pilot builds and optimize production readiness before full-scale launch.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain metrics for production efficiency, yield, and quality improvements.
  • Recommend and implement automation or technology upgrades when appropriate.
  • Work with design engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product development and production.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation including SOPs, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Assist in training production staff on new processes and equipment.

Job description

Pivotal Health Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Watertown, SD. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production. This role bridges product design and manufacturing, ensuring products are manufacturable, reliable, and meet quality standards.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes for new and existing products
  • Conduct DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) analysis to improve product manufacturability
  • Implement process flow, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency, yield, and throughput
  • Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues
  • Collaborate with quality, production, and maintenance teams to resolve production problems
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence
  • Support New Product Development by providing manufacturability input during design and prototyping
  • Develop process plans, tooling requirements, and production validation for new products
  • Conduct pilot builds and optimize production readiness before full-scale launch
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Maintain metrics for production efficiency, yield, and quality improvements
  • Recommend and implement automation or technology upgrades where appropriate
  • Work closely with design engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product development and production
  • Maintain and update technical documentation including SOPs, BOMs, and work instructions
  • Assist in training production staff on new processes and equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline
  • 3–5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment
  • Experience with CAD/CAE software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and process simulation tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying shop conditions (heat, dust, noise)
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA and tolerance analysis
  • Familiarity with prototype development and pilot production
  • Ability to provide design-for-manufacturability feedback to design engineers
