Job summary

The Trojan Battery Company is seeking an entry level member of the Quality Team to coordinate and implement effective product and process quality plans using basic 6 Sigma tools such as RCCA, FMEA, and process mapping.

You will conduct quality audits, support Lean initiatives, and help drive corrective actions across manufacturing operations while developing training and documentation to sustain high quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in technical or science field; 2–5 years related experience (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • Green Belt or willingness to obtain within a year.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality plans based on 6 Sigma principles.
  • Lead quality audits and RCCA activities.
  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvements.
  • Prepare training programs on quality methods.
  • Manage sampling plans for production and qualification.
  • Review RCCA plans and drive corrective actions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a member of the Trojan Quality Team, this is intended to be an entry level position with responsibilities of: coordinating and implementing effective processes, product, and component control plans. Utilizing basic 6 Sigma tools such as: Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Process Mapping, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other basic statistical techniques to analyze, understand, and reduce process variation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned including the following.



  • Responsible for development and implementation of product and process quality plans based on sound quality 6 Sigma principals, including control plans, procedures, inspection plans, and other quality documentation.

  • Use total quality management (TQM) tools and approaches to other company departments for analytical and reporting processes within respective department.

  • Conduct quality audits to ensure continuous control over materials/products/ processes, as well as conformance to business processes affecting quality.

  • Drive, lead, and mentor process improvement activities, along with participation on teams.

  • Customer Complaint Process; Trend analysis, Monthly Reports, corrective actions

  • Develop and conduct required quality training programs to key personnel.

  • Implement and follow quality system standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Support engineering efforts of analytical laboratory equipment and assist in the development and validation of manufacturing equipment, and processes.

  • Work with a Sr. Quality Engineer driving process improvement and developing problem solving plans thru Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma principals

  • Development and review of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) plans

  • Development and implementation of sampling plans for production, qualification, and validation of products/processes with Sr. Quality Engineering over-sight

  • Performs Quality audits to critical components and finished product


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Ability to interpret drawings and first article inspection results

  • Highly motivated self-starter

  • Must be outgoing in personality with strong relationship skills for customers, colleagues and senior management personnel

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision

  • High standard of business and personal ethics

  • Must be very comfortable with Microsoft Office Applications; MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Access or equivalent, Minitab and MRP/ERP systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum of Associate Degree in technical discipline or a science discipline and/or minimum of 2-5 years related experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Basic 6 Sigma Skills (Greenbelt or willing to be certified within a year)

  • General understanding of Lean Principals

  • General understanding with Cost of Quality (COQ) principals (Scrap/rework/repair)

  • General understanding of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001)

  • Sampling Schemes (AQL, Special, Skip Lot)

  • Battery Technology a plus


LANGUAGE SKILLS


  • Proficient in English

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


  • (Preferred) Certified Quality Engineer (ASQCQE) or willing to be certified.

  • (Preferred) 6 Sigma Green Belt or willing to be certified within one year


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Must be able to lift 25lbs.

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time

  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard

  • Must be able to drive to different Company locations
