Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 0–2 years in manufacturing or production; internships or capstone projects are a plus.
  • Strong Excel data-analysis skills; familiarity with Minitab is a plus.
  • CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor is desirable.
  • Foundational Lean Manufacturing knowledge and continuous improvement experience.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Create processes and procedures to meet budgetary goals and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external resources to drive projects.
  • Design and develop new production equipment to improve processes.
  • Specify and implement automation systems (e.g. pick-and-place robotics).
  • Participate in cross-department meetings to ensure collaboration.
  • Support TPM activities and track equipment reliability metrics.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency through workflow, space, and layout planning.
  • Keep projects on schedule and on budget.

The Arrow Fastener Company, LLC, manufacturer of the famous T50 Staple Gun, HT50 Hammer Tacker, other related tools and staples, seeks to fill a new position for a Manufacturing Engineer to maintain and improve manufacturing operations in our Saddle Brook, NJ factory.

Our primary manufacturing activities are assembly, progressive-die stamping, heat treating, and nickel-chrome electroplating. The successful candidate will have familiarity with at least some of these processes, and proven success in conceiving, designing, and implementing improvements thereto. Experience with lean methodologies (Kaizen, Six-Sigma), electromechanical systems (PLC’s, stepper motors, sensors and controls), and pneumatic systems is required. There may also be opportunities to assist our overseas manufacturing partners with lean initiatives to accomplish cost improvements. Reporting Relationship:

The Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Senior Value Stream Manager for the Arrow Fastener Co-Op and Distributor business.

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-driven and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to join our production team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes from conception through to production. Your primary focus will be on improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing product quality, and ensuring a safe working environment. You will collaborate closely with quality, design, and operations teams to bring continuous improvement initiatives to life.

What You Will Do:
  • Evaluate existingmanufacturingprocesses and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
  • Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues and external resources to advance project work.
  • Design and develop new production equipment to improvemanufacturingprocesses.
  • Specify and implement automation systems (e.g. pick-and-place robotics).
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and track equipment reliability metrics.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement events and activities, follow through to achieve results.
  • Improvemanufacturingefficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Achieve cost-saving initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Co-develop schedules and budgets for projects and keep projects on schedule and on budget.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience (Internships, co-ops, or hands-on senior capstone projects in a manufacturing or production environment are a strong plus).
  • Strong aptitude for data analysis using tools like Microsoft Excel (familiarity with statistical software or Minitab is a plus).
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor is a plus).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and basic problem-solving frameworks (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).
  • Knowledge of electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic machine systems.
  • Knowledge of machine controls and integration.
  • Valid Passport, eligible for China Visa.
