Job summary

Qualifications

  • 2+ years with related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Degree preferred in Engineering or related technical disciplines.
  • Ability to accurately assess manufacturing issues related to process and design.
  • Effective communication at multiple levels and strong relationship-building.
  • Growth mindset and desire to expand technical skillset.
  • Results-driven to maintain accountability and customer focus.
  • PFMEA experience preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing tools (Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Poke-Yoke, VSM).
  • Ability to use 8D and 5 Why for root cause analysis.
  • Ability to assess issues related to design and tolerancing.
  • Low/High voltage knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • PLC programming a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures and be the first contact for line stoppage.
  • Assist Engineering with equipment options research and specs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality to resolve issues.
  • Provide timely resolution of process and product design problems including investigations and corrective actions.
  • Create safe, cost-effective manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools.
  • Design flow lines, layouts, and controls to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Uphold manufacturing standards including maps, set-ups, and cycle times.
  • Generate work instructions and standardized work to ensure quality at the source.
  • Voice of the customer input for new design development.
  • Partner with on-site EHS to ensure safety compliance.

Where Is The Work

On-Site (5 days)

Join Trane Technologies as a Manufacturing Engineer in Rushville, IN! In this role, you will operate innovative engineered systems and develop, coordinate, and implement sustainable manufacturing production processes. Your cross-functional team will be focused on delivering quality, safety, and operational efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures and is the first point of contact for line stoppage.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineering team with researching and specifying options for equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality to resolve production issues.
  • Provide timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems, including investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning.
  • Create cost-effective and safe manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Design manufacturing flow lines, workstation layouts, and station controls that optimize efficiency, operating costs, and product quality.
  • Uphold manufacturing standards including machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings, and cycle times.
  • Generate work instructions, job breakdowns, and standardized work to ensure quality at the source meets product and manufacturing specifications given local needs.
  • Serve as a voice of the customer for input for new design development.
  • Partner with on-site EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) to ensure all equipment meets safety regulations compliant with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).

  • 2+ years with related experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to accurately assess manufacturing issues related to process and design
  • Effective communication at multiple levels coupled with ability to build relationships
  • Growth mindset – desire to expand technical skillset
  • Results-driven to maintain accountability and customer-focus
  • PFMEA experience preferred
  • Preferred experience with project management or project launch.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)
  • Ability to quickly determine root cause utilizing 8D’s and 5 why tools.
  • Ability to quickly assess manufacturing issues related to design and tolerancing.
  • Low/High Voltage knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • PLC programming a plus.
