Job description

Foxconn is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Industrial & Manufacturing Engineer to support and optimize our production operations in Indianapolis. This hybrid role merges the strategic planning and systems optimization focus of Industrial Engineering with the hands-on process improvement and equipment knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about driving manufacturing excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and improve overall productivity (Lean / Six Sigma).
  • Design and implement process flow improvements, workstation layouts, and equipment modifications to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Work cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and support daily operations.
  • Lead time studies, line balancing, and capacity planning to meet changing customer and production demands.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Evaluate production metrics and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
  • Specify, procure, and implement new tools, jigs, and fixtures to support scalable manufacturing.
  • Drive initiatives around automation, digital transformation, and smart manufacturing systems.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and change management processes with engineering documentation and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (electronics or consumer products preferred).
  • Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks, Excel, and manufacturing-related software (MES, ERP).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive results in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with automation systems or robotics.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of supply chain or logistics optimization.
