Job summary

We Do The Search is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to set up and maintain production lines for testing, repairing, and upgrading returned customer electronics. You will support technicians in diagnosing and repairing systems to ensure safe, efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, fixture/test-system work, and collaboration with product teams to drive quality improvements and continuous process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with design or manufacturing of microprocessor- or microcontroller-based products.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience developing automated test systems preferred.
  • Experience in component-level troubleshooting and repair preferred.
  • Familiarity with switching power supplies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead setup of new production line equipment for testing, repair, and upgrade of electronics.
  • Assist in design, construction, and maintenance of test fixtures and systems (hardware, software, mechanical).
  • Troubleshoot product failures and perform root-cause analysis on returned electronics.
  • Collect repair data and maintain repair records/databases.
  • Provide feedback to product teams on design corrections and trends.
  • Develop and document troubleshooting and repair protocols.
  • Perform repairs on returned devices per safety and quality standards.
  • Mentor technicians in troubleshooting and repair tasks.

Job description

Join a team where hands-on engineering, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement drive the repair and upgrade of complex electronic products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across production setup, test systems, and component-level diagnostics in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining production lines used to repair and upgrade returned customer products, while also supporting technicians in diagnosing and repairing electronic systems to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

Duties:

Including but not limited to:

  • Lead the setup of new production line equipment used to test, repair, and upgrade electronic products
  • Assist in the design, construction, and maintenance of test fixtures and test systems, including hardware, software, and mechanical components as needed
  • Troubleshoot product failures and perform root-cause analysis on electronic products returned from customer facilities
  • Collect repair data and maintain accurate repair records and databases
  • Provide feedback to product development teams regarding design corrections, product enhancements, and recurring failure trends
  • Assist in developing and documenting troubleshooting and repair protocols
  • Perform repairs on returned devices in accordance with established quality and safety standards
  • Assist technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electronic products
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to operations and repair technicians
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with the design or manufacturing of microprocessor- or microcontroller-based products required
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment is ideal
  • Experience developing automated test systems is preferred but not required
  • Experience in component-level troubleshooting and repair of electronic products is strongly preferred
  • Experience with switching power supplies is preferred but not required
  • Ability to design, construct, and maintain test fixtures and test systems for microcontroller-based products
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits to the component level using schematics and common test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Working knowledge of laboratory and manufacturing safety practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and a self-motivated approach to work
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to mentor operations and repair technicians
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Background in electronics manufacturing, testing, or repair strongly preferred
Work Environment:
  • Electronics manufacturing and repair environment
  • Work involves hands-on troubleshooting, test equipment, and production line support
  • Must follow established safety procedures and laboratory/manufacturing safety practices
