Job summary

GL Staffing in Orlando, FL seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, processes, tooling, and test solutions that support plant production activities.

This hands-on role works closely with engineering, production, quality, and other cross-functional teams to improve processes, resolve technical issues, and support new and existing products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, electronic testing, test equipment, fixtures, or automated test systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting production environments and implementing process improvements is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to handle ITAR-controlled technical information in accordance with applicable requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing, assembly, and test processes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical/electronic test fixtures, jigs, tooling, and automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Apply engineering principles, statistical methods, and data analysis to monitor, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate manufacturing and process-related problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain production-level documentation, work instructions, procedures, and process specifications.
  • Identify, specify, and initiate the procurement of manufacturing tools, equipment, fixtures, and supplies.
  • Plan, specify, evaluate, and justify capital equipment expenditures.
  • Lead or participate in product and process improvement initiatives.
  • Design and develop test systems and electronic systems supporting product testing, assembly, and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, product, quality, and other engineering disciplines to support concurrent engineering activities.
  • Support new product introduction, process development, production readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to production and manufacturing teams.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and provide technical expertise to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, processes, tooling, and test solutions that support plant production activities. This is a hands-on role that works closely with engineering, production, quality, and other cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing processes, resolve technical issues, and support new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with the electrical/electronic design and development of test fixtures, test systems, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and electrical/electronic test systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply statistical concepts to manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Minitab, Microsoft Dynamics AX, or similar engineering/manufacturing software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment and collaborate across multiple engineering and operational disciplines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to cross-functional teams.
Education, Experience & Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
