Job summary

Kelly Services seeks a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer for our client in Northbrook, IL. This contract-to-permanent role focuses on supporting production operations and driving continuous improvement across processes and equipment on the manufacturing floor.

The ideal candidate will apply Lean/Six Sigma tools, lead root cause analysis, and coordinate upgrades while collaborating with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Development to accelerate transfers and improvements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support production operations, improve manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in Northbrook, IL. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working directly on the manufacturing floor to improve production processes throughout.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on engineering support for production lines, equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects
• Improve quality, throughput, cycle time, productivity, safety, and overall efficiency
• Apply Lean/Six Sigma tools, including 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, standard work, and waste reduction
• Analyze manufacturing data and process capability to identify improvement opportunities
• Support CAPA, SCAR, GMP, validations, and manufacturing documentation
• Coordinate equipment upgrades, modifications, maintenance, and capacity improvements
• Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Development on manufacturing initiatives
• Support new product introductions and transfers into production

Requirements

• Manufacturing Engineering experience in a production environment
• Strong Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement background
• Hands-on equipment and process troubleshooting experience
• Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, process improvement, and manufacturing data
• Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills
