Job summary

L2x Talent Solutions in Naperville, IL is seeking a senior Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead manufacturing and capital improvement projects from concept through closure.

You will develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and manage equipment installations, line expansions, and facility upgrades while collaborating with production to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in manufacturing/industrial settings.
  • Experience leading engineering, process improvement, or capital equipment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
  • Excellent PM, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing and capital improvement projects from concept to closure.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Manage equipment installations, line expansions, facility upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with production to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency during implementation.
  • Create and maintain engineering docs, specs, and SOPs.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers to meet milestones.
  • Monitor project performance and provide updates on progress, risks, budgets, outcomes.
  • Support automation and process optimization initiatives to improve plant performance.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and develop corrective actions.

Job description

  • Lead manufacturing and capital improvement projects from initial concept through implementation and project closure.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments to support successful execution.
  • Manage equipment installations, production line expansions, facility upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency during project implementation.
  • Create, maintain, and update engineering documentation, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Partner with Quality and Operations teams to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate activities with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers to meet project milestones and performance expectations.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular updates on progress, risks, budgets, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Support automation, manufacturing technology, and process optimization initiatives to improve plant performance.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and develop sustainable corrective actions for manufacturing challenges.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience leading engineering, process improvement, or capital equipment projects.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and tooling systems.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
