Job summary

Sora Resource Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a national manufacturing client in the US. This role designs, integrates, and improves manufacturing systems and related processes to refine product designs, enhance manufacturability, and reduce costs.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering background with at least 3 years in manufacturing, tooling design experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo, and Mastercam.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with tooling design.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo, and Mastercam.
  • At least one year of experience with resistance welding.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze data to develop cost structures, BOMs, routings, and item masters.
  • Create and maintain BOMs and manufacturing routings in MRP systems.
  • Develop and maintain engineering policies for BOMs, ECNs, and standards.
  • Collaborate with design and shop teams to improve manufacturability and reduce costs.
  • Support production during testing and debugging.

Job description

Our client is an established and growing national mfg co that designs and produces innovative components and systems for a variety of industries. The Manufacturing Engineer designs, integrates, and improves manufacturing systems and related processes. This role partners with commercial and industrial designers to refine product designs, improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and support reliable production.


Key Responsibilities


  • Gather and analyze the data needed to develop cost structures, preliminary sketches, and schematic diagrams for tools, machines, and products, including bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and item masters.

  • Create and maintain BOMs and manufacturing routings in BPCS.

  • Develop and maintain engineering policies and procedures for BOMs, work centers and routings, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), product development, material standards, steel suppliers, wire-form outsourcing, and other relevant processes.

  • Develop routings for current and standard products and support new process development.

  • Provide design support that meets customer requirements while aligning products with cost-effective manufacturing processes.

  • Research materials and suppliers to identify solutions that best meet customer needs.

  • Protect confidential concepts and maintain clear separation between proprietary products and customer-specific designs.

  • Collaborate on new process development initiatives.

  • Maintain close working relationships with the Machine Shop, Maintenance, Fabrication and Finishing supervisors, and Materials teams to resolve plant issues.

  • Review existing and new installations for ergonomic best practices and recommend improvements.

  • Match products to existing processes to maximize the use of current capital equipment.

  • Develop and maintain production standards.

  • Maintain engineering documentation, including cost files, new-part startup records, schedules, production files, drawings, copies, and reproductions.

  • Provide production-floor support during test runs and debugging, as required.

  • Apply tool-design concepts and knowledge of forming and bending analysis for steel products.

  • Shift quickly from planned work to support urgent equipment breakdowns and help restore production as soon as possible.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with tooling design.

  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo, and Mastercam.

  • At least one year of experience with resistance welding.

  • Experience with hot and cold forming, heat treatment, precision machining, and CNC machine programming.
