Job summary

J&M Products, Inc. seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement, and continuously improve production processes and documentation. You will review drawings, BOMs, and customer requirements to define methods, tooling, and process controls.

You will create routings, work instructions, process sheets, and standard work while supporting tooling, fixtures, and process concepts. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration are essential to drive quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of related manufacturing engineering experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, specs, BOMs, and customer requirements.

Job description

Develops, implements, and improves manufacturing processes, methods, tooling, and documentation to support safe, efficient, repeatable production that meets engineering, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

  • Develops, implements, documents, and improves manufacturing processes to produce conforming product safely and efficiently.
  • Reviews drawings, specifications, bills of material, customer requirements, and manufacturing data to establish methods, sequences, tooling, and process controls.
  • Creates and maintains manufacturing routings, work instructions, process sheets, standard work, and other production documentation.
  • Designs, specifies, or supports tooling, fixtures, workholding, gages, and other manufacturing aids required for production.
  • Provides hands-on engineering support to resolve production process, tooling, equipment, quality, and manufacturability issues.
  • Supports new product introduction, first article activities, prototype builds, and transition of new or revised products into production.
  • Works with Quality and Engineering to investigate nonconforming product, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Performs time studies, capacity analysis, process capability reviews, and cost-reduction activities to improve productivity and quality.
  • Evaluates manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and capital-improvement opportunities and assists with implementation.
  • Leads or supports continuous improvement activities including waste, setup, scrap, and rework reduction and standardized work.
  • Ensures manufacturing processes and documentation comply with company procedures, customer requirements, safety, and quality-system controls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering, process planning, production methods, tooling, fixtures, and process improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, bills of material, and customer requirements.
  • Experience developing manufacturing routings, work instructions, process documentation, standard work, and production methods.
  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, assembly, inspection, tooling, and workholding in precision manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102 first article requirements, configuration control, nonconformance, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Experience with CAD and/or CAM systems and ability to create or review basic tooling, fixture, and process concepts preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, 5S, process capability, statistical process control, and continuous improvement methods preferred.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing problems, evaluate data, identify root causes, and implement practical corrective actions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while coordinating with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare technical documentation, reports, and production instructions.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP, production planning data, manufacturing costs, and engineering change or document-control systems preferred.
Education & experience
  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
  • Three to five years related manufacturing engineering experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical aptitude to understand manufacturing equipment, processes, tooling, inspection methods, engineering drawings, and process controls.
