Job summary

Weco Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a cross-functional team dedicated to improving part fabrication, assembly, and QC compliance. You will interpret complex drawings and lead manufacturing method decisions with attention to schedule and equipment constraints.

The role requires 5+ years in engineering, strong CAD skills (Mastercam/SolidWorks/Radan), and a commitment to continuous improvement at a busy NY facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer drawings and determine best manufacturing method given equipment and schedule.
  • Write setup sheet work instructions for machine center operators detailing fixturing, tooling, and project notes.
  • Proficient in detailing work instructions for fabrication processes.
  • Utilize 3D CAD to help shop floor understand manufacturing processes.
  • 3D model customer parts from drawings using CAD tools.
  • Support shop floor with fixture design and workholding suggestions.
  • Collaborate with shop floor to improve efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Work with QC to ensure all QMS requirements are met during routing.
  • Build BOMs on job routers to conform with customer material requirements.
  • Maintain revision control of manufactured parts in ERP.
  • Understand at least four of: laser programming, turret programming, CNC programming, press brake setup, welding, manual machining, finishing.
  • Assist in specifying materials, hardware, and finishing supplies.
  • Review vendor material certifications with QC and confirm compliance.
  • Communicate issues to supervisor and customer professionally and promptly.
  • Support cost reduction and continuous improvement activities.
  • Analyze raw data and generate usable reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Capable of interpreting customer supplied drawings and determining the best method of manufacturing considering the equipment available and the current manufacturing schedule.
  • Writes set up sheet work instructions for machine center operators that will call out fixturing requirements, tooling, and any other miscellaneous information pertaining to the project.
  • Proficient in writing work instructions in detail pertaining to any one of the fabrication processes.
  • Utilizes 3D CAD software to help shop floor employees better understand the manufacturing process of various parts.
  • 3D model customer parts using their supplied drawings utilizing CAD software.
  • Supports the shop floor in any fixture design / work holding suggestions.
  • Works with employees on the shop floor to improve efficiency, safety, and quality of manufacturing processes.
  • Work with QC to ensure all QMS requirements are being met during job routing.
  • Build B.O.M. on job routers to conform with customer material requirements called out on the print, parts list and or contract.

Requirements
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or related discipline preferred.

  • Knowledge of materials and their chemical and physical properties is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 workflow requirements and the ability to follow such procedures - is a plus
