Manufacturing Engineer | Roll Forming, Automation & Continuous Improvement
A growing manufacturing organization in the Mocksville, NC area is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support equipment reliability, process optimization, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across a high-volume production environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being hands‑on on the manufacturing floor, solving complex equipment challenges, improving operational performance, and leading capital improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting roll forming, press operations, automated manufacturing systems, tooling design, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and improve manufacturing tooling and production equipment.
- Support roll forming, press operations, automated systems, and assembly processes.
- Drive improvements in equipment reliability, uptime, throughput, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions for recurring equipment and process issues.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance.
- Support automation projects involving robotics, conveyors, sensors, and material handling systems.
- Manage capital equipment projects from concept and specification through implementation and startup.
- Optimize machine changeovers, equipment setups, and tooling performance to reduce downtime and scrap.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Assist with facility layout improvements, material flow optimization, and capacity planning initiatives.
- Develop equipment documentation, setup procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical standards.
- Collaborate with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and integrators to evaluate and implement technical solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
- Experience supporting roll forming, metal forming, press operations, or similar manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of equipment troubleshooting, reliability improvement, and process optimization.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mills, tooling design, pass progression, flower design, or cutoff tooling.
- Knowledge of PLCs, industrial automation, robotics, and automated manufacturing systems.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience supporting new product introductions within a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements
This position requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor and the ability to work in an industrial environment. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, safely navigate production areas, occasionally climb ladders, work around moving equipment, and lift materials with assistance when required.
