Job summary

Kadant Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer at our Tupelo, Mississippi facility to drive process improvements and support metal fabrication operations. The role focuses on Lean initiatives, waste reduction, and cost-effective design for manufacturability.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 5+ years of technical manufacturing experience, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred. Proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience providing technical support in metal fabrication.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with ability to lead Kaizen teams.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements and upgrades; may develop CAPEX requests and proposals.
• Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing to meet customer deliveries.
• Identify and implement Waste Reduction solutions as part of Continuous Improvement program.
• Participate on and implement preventive actions recommended by the Hazard Elimination Team.
• Lead selected Kaizen events to reduce waste and improve process flow.
• Conduct production/manufacturing reviews to ensure designs are producible and cost effective.

Overview

Provides tooling, equipment, process design, and ability to produce reviews, Lean leadership and other technical support for manufacturing processes in the Tupelo facility.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement Manufacturing process improvements and upgrades where appropriate. May develop Capital Expense Requests and Proposals for submittal.
• Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing to meet customer deliveries.
• Identify and implement Waste Reduction solutions as part of Continuous Improvement program.
• Participate on and implement preventive actions recommended by the Hazard Elimination Team.
• Lead selected Kaizen events to reduce waste and improve process flow.
• Conduct production/manufacturing reviews to ensure product designs are producible and cost effective.

• Five or more years of experience providing technical support in a metal fabrication environment.
• Training and certification as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
