Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II in Minnetonka, MN to support operations across technical, quality and process areas. You will bridge hands-on manufacturing and engineering activities, leading quality analysis and aiding process improvements to boost safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.

The role requires 3+ years in electro‑mechanical assembly, plus familiarity with CAD, ECOs, PCBAs, and lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

  • BS in electrical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or related technical degree with 3+ years in electro‑mechanical assembly.
  • Proven ability to deliver productivity and material cost savings.
  • 3D CAD work experience (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with ECO processes (Arena / SAP preferred).
  • Experience with PCBAs, electronics, and firmware workflows, including troubleshooting and testing PCBAs at component level.

Responsibilities

Job description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Audio Video Division in Minnetonka, MN. The Manufacturing Engineer supports manufacturing operations by owning defined technical, quality, and process responsibilities. This role bridges hands‑on manufacturing support and engineering activities by leading quality analysis, supporting process improvements, and assisting in the development and sustainment of manufacturing processes. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electronic schematics and PCB layouts
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to examine component issues and required changes
  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc.
  • Basic understanding of embedded programming and the ability to read C++ language
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to train and motivate employees at all levels
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism
  • Must be available for extended, varied work hours based on business need

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of 3+ years engineering experience in an electro-mechanical assembly environment; or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Proven ability to deliver productivity and material cost savings
  • 3D CAD work experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience with ECO processes (Arena / SAP preferred)
  • Experience with PCBAs, electronics, and firmware workflows, including troubleshooting and testing PCBAs at the component level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing / cell production environments
  • Experience in audited/regulated environments (UL, ISO 9001)
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and quality engineering tasks
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Experience with SAP
  • Labeling software experience

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, climb; and lift, push or pull 40 lbs. Must have the ability to make coordinated movements of the fingers and hands to grasp, manipulate, and to perform data entry on a keyboard.
  • Combination general office and regular shop assembly/distribution center environment
  • May require regular ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
