Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to establish and strengthen production systems in a heavy manufacturing environment. This direct-hire role focuses on BOMs, routings, standard work, and ERP integration with Epicor to ensure readiness for new products.

The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor’s in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, strong Lean knowledge, and proficiency in SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in production.
• Experience developing BOMs, routings, labor standards, and process structures.
• ERP experience required; Epicor experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain BOMs, routings, and process structures.
• Establish and improve standard work, labor standards, and work instructions.
• Lead manufacturing data setup and ERP integration (Epicor).
• Support NPI, manufacturing readiness, tooling, and process optimization.
• Define and optimize processes, tooling, equipment, layouts, and workflow.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve cost, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
• Lead Lean initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction).
• Create and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Ensure safety requirements and company policies are met.

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to establish and strengthen the systems that support efficient, scalable, high-quality production in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $95,000-$115,000 annually

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain accurate bills of materials, routings, and manufacturing process structures.
• Establish and improve standard work, labor standards, work instructions, and process flows.
• Lead manufacturing data setup and process integration within Epicor ERP, including item masters and job structures.
• Support new product introductions by ensuring manufacturing readiness, tooling, documentation, and process capability are in place.
• Define and optimize manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, plant layouts, and workflow.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and improve cost, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
• Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and continuous improvement projects.
• Create and interpret technical drawings, process documentation, and work instructions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Ensure manufacturing processes align with safety requirements and company policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
• Strong experience developing BOMs, routings, labor standards, and manufacturing process structures.
• ERP experience required; Epicor experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting NPI, manufacturing readiness, tooling, and process optimization.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, ISO standards, and continuous improvement methods.
• Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software experience preferred.
