Job summary

Siemens Energy, Inc. in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement manufacturing processes for complex gas turbine combustion components, collaborating with Design and Service Engineering.

You will optimize CNC programs for lathe, milling, and mill-turn operations, support off-shift QA investigations, and help drive DFM improvements for new products. A bachelor's in mechanical/industrial engineering and 5+ years' experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years manufacturing engineering experience in CNC programming and machine shop environments.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, especially Siemens NX CAM/NX CAD and CNC control platforms (Fanuc/Siemens).
• Knowledge of GD&T, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and Lean/Six Sigma.
• Willingness to support off-shift operations and travel if needed.

Your day may begin with a Gemba meeting where production priorities, development initiatives, and project needs are discussed.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will contribute to the success of our business in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on complex gas turbine combustion components. Your day may begin with a Gemba meeting where production priorities, development initiatives, and project needs are discussed.
You will work closely with operators on the shop floor to develop and refine robust manufacturing processes in support of new product introductions and ongoing production. Collaborating daily with Design Engineering and Service Engineering teams, you will help drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements for new and refurbished combustion hardware while supporting the manufacture of critical components used in advanced gas turbine technologies.
This position follows a Thursday - Monday (5 days x 8 hours) work schedule.
How You’ll Make An Impact

• Develop and implement product-specific manufacturing processes using sound engineering principles, technical judgment, and manufacturing best practices.
• Define and communicate manufacturing processes through technical work instructions, project briefings, operator training, and shop floor support.
• Provide technical guidance to operators, technicians, and manufacturing engineers on tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
• Partner with Design Engineering and Service Engineering teams to support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, process improvements, and new product introductions.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for lathe, milling, and mill-turn machining operations utilizing G-code and M-code programming.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, and cost performance in collaboration with production and engineering teams.
• Serve as the manufacturing engineering point of contact during off-shift operations, coordinating the investigation and resolution of Quality Notifications related to machining, laser processing, and welding.
  

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience, including an Associate degree with significant relevant experience, may be considered.
• 5 or more years of manufacturing engineering experience in CNC programming, fabrication, and machine shop environments, including hands-on programming of lathe, milling, and mill-turn operations and machining nickel-based alloys.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software, particularly Siemens NX CAM and NX CAD, CNC control platforms including Fanuc and Siemens controls, multi-channel programming, Teamcenter, and SAP; ability to support urgent production requirements and customer-focused manufacturing operations.
• Experience with machining simulation software such as Vericut and NX ISV.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, workholding, materials, GD&T, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
• Experience developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes, production planning strategies, tooling solutions, and shop-floor operations within CNC machining environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, along with the flexibility to support off-shift operations, weekends, and critical customer projects as needed.
• Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
