Job summary

Sterling Engineering seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence across multiple domestic and international facilities. This hands‑on role will optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency and capacity, and support engineering and manufacturing initiatives across locations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong precision machining/CNC background and experience with tight‑tolerance components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of manufacturing experience with 2+ years of Lean/CI experience.
• Strong CNC machining and precision manufacturing experience.
• Experience with tight-tolerance components, mechanical drawings, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of manufacturing costs, BOMs, ERP systems, and routings.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Willingness to travel ~50% domestically and internationally.
• Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Medical device, aerospace, or miniature gear manufacturing experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and layouts.
• Drive Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
• Support precision CNC machining and tight-tolerance manufacturing.
• Analyze manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to improve manufacturing methods.
• Support capital equipment, tooling, vendor selection, RFQs, and technology transfers.
• Create manufacturing drawings and sketches using SolidWorks.
• Support quoting and manufacturing cost analysis.
• Develop routings, analyze data, and present recommendations to leadership.
• Promote quality, safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Salary: $80,000–$120,000/year + incentive opportunity

Travel: Approximately 50% (mostly domestic, some international)

Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence across multiple domestic and international manufacturing facilities. This hands‑on role will focus on optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency and capacity, and supporting engineering and manufacturing initiatives across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong precision machining/CNC background and experience with tight‑tolerance components. Experience with CNC turning, milling, screw machines, or miniature gear manufacturing is a plus. The position will initially be remote for someone based near Charlotte, NC, with an expectation to eventually work from the Charlotte office when not traveling.
