Position Opportunity

Alamance Foods is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimization. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced manufacturing environments and enjoy leading change. You'll collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and ensure reliable production lines.

Applicants from Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering backgrounds are encouraged. Recent graduates with relevant internships, co-ops, or project experience are welcome.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis)
  • Optimize line performance, reduce downtime, and improve throughput
  • Design and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues with maintenance and production teams
  • Monitor KPIs and drive improvements through data analysis
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and expansions
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Document processes and maintain technical records
  • Support new product and process trials from concept to scale-up
Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or similar (Required)

Related Experience:

  • Internship or full-time experience in manufacturing or industrial settings
  • Experience in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with lean tools (5S, value stream mapping, kaizen)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD or SolidWorks a plus
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation, or industrial processes is a plus

Travel Requirements: Minimal, mainly on-site

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, use of hands, reaching
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching
  • Constant talking and hearing
  • Required vision capabilities
