Job description

Philips is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to hlep support Bedford's scale-up activities and manufacturing design transfer initiatives. The role is focused on helping move existing products and processes into the evolving manufacturing environment while ensuring documentation, validation, and process controls are established correctly.

You're the right fit if you have the following:
  • Has enough experience to work independently with documentation and process-related tasks.
  • Can manage multiple projects and documentation efforts simultaneously.
  • Is proactive and capable of driving improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Help transition products and manufacturing processes into the Bedford production environment.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Support Product Development Lifecycle Management (PDLM) activities.
Validation & Documentation

A significant portion of the role will involve documentation and compliance-related engineering work, including:

  • Validation activities.
  • Change order documentation and execution.
  • Manufacturing updates and process documentation.
  • Creation and maintenance of work instructions.
  • Development of quality control plans.
  • Ensuring manufacturing documentation remains current and compliant.
Process Improvement & Lean Manufacturing

Desired experience includes:

  • Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Process optimization.
  • Workflow improvement projects.
  • Notably, Lean and Six Sigma exposure gained through university coursework or internships would still be considered valuable.
Manufacturing Support
  • Assist with manufacturing process improvements.
  • Support equipment implementation and ramp-up efforts.
  • Monitor process performance after implementation.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Help optimize manufacturing efficiency and productivity.
Quality & Compliance
  • Support compliance with regulatory, quality, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with CAPA-related activities.
  • Ensure processes meet manufacturing and quality standards.
  • Participate in manufacturing change management activities throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Some practical manufacturing experience beyond academic work.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage change orders and validation documentation.

  • Medical device or regulated manufacturing environment.
