Socket.dev is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support the team with design and optimization tasks. You will craft weld and assembly fixtures, update drawings for manufacturability, and participate in improvement projects focused on safety, quality and efficiency.

You'll gather data, solve problems, and collaborate with cross-functional teammates to enhance production capabilities. Strong analytical skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field, required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret manufacturing and engineering documents.
  • Formalized training or experience in 'design for manufacturing' preferred.
  • Formalized training or experience in 3D modeling and drafting (Solidworks Preferred).
  • Must be team oriented and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across levels.

Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing aids such as weld fixtures, assembly fixtures, and material handling devices.
  • Update engineering designs and drawings to improve manufacturability.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects to improve Safety, Quality or Efficiency.
  • Perform inspections on production parts and fixtures to determine root causes and validate tolerances.
  • Gather data for problem solving and new process development projects.
